Monday Menu 05.17.10

Posted in kitchen by Eron Napier - May 18, 2010

This week, I took advantage of several sale items at Whole Foods – stocked up my pantry, and added a few new things to the menu this week, including ham, pineapple, hot dogs, and corn on the cob. We’re right on track with our Food budget this month (after months of spending way too much), so things are looking good at the bank, and tasting good at the dinner table!

  • Monday: Ginger-Garlic Steaks with Roasted Vegetables
  • Tuesday: Baked Potatoes with “The Works”
  • Wednesday: Hot Dogs, Corn on the Cob, and Beet Salad
  • Thursday: Dinner @ The Billings
  • Friday: Late-O De Mayo Party
  • Saturday: Ham & Pineapple Skewers with Rice
  • Sunday: Falafel & Couscous

How did last weeks steaks turn out?

We actually skipped them! That night Brian was over, and he and Tyson were doing Snooty Drunks. I ended up making a quick pasta instead. The steaks tonight were very good! I put equal parts ginger and garlic, salt and pepper to taste, and a splash of olive oil and balsamic vinegar into a Foodsaver bag, then vacuum sealed the steaks with the marinade. The Foodsaver process marinates meat in a matter of minutes (instead of overnight). The meat was so flavorful! I suggest serving on the rare side for maximum taste…if you can handle it! LOL!
